Vintage “Bend to Cock” Double-Barrelled Cork Firing Toy Shotgun – Made in Japan
Here on offer is a great vintage “bend to cock” double-barrelled cork firing Toy Shotgun, from the 1950’s or 60’s.
The main body of the gun is made from pressed metal that has some a raised scroll work design on the sides. The metal has been painted black at some point in its life and shows some light corrosion under the paint.
The stock is made from a hard brown plastic that has a wooden grain finish and knurled sides, to make it look like a wooden stock.
The “bend to cock” mechanism still works but is showing signs of wear to the metal loops that the spring pins pull against.
Both barrels fire, by pulling the single trigger, one fires before the other, just like a real shotgun.
There are no “corks with string” supplied with the gun and it is sold really as a toy collector’s piece ideally for display only as the mechanism is fragile.
It a great nostalgic toy that reminds me of my youth, when cork and pellet firing toy guns where all the rage!
I can’t find a makers name on the gun, but does look very similar to a VICTOR RIFLE 201 toy gun.
It does have MADE IN JAPAN stamped on the trigger guard.
It measures 21” (53.3cm) long and weighs 230g.
