Rare Pearl Arms Crested China WW1 BRITISH TANK – MARK 1 - CAMBRIDGE - c1916
Here on offer is an unusual and rare Pearl Arms China (A.C.R. & Co Ltd) model of a WW1 British Tank made in 1916.
I think this is a model of the first British Tank that was made, the Mark 1.
The Mark 1 was armed with two 6 pounder guns and three .303 Hotchkiss machine guns and were called “Male" tanks; those with four Vickers machine guns and one Hotchkiss, were called "Female”.
To aid steering, a pair of large wheels were added behind the tank. These were not as effective as hoped and were subsequently dropped.
On the top of this model is a beautiful colourful crest transfer image of the shield for the City of:
CAMBRIDGE
Also on the top it has the following words printed:
MODEL OF
BRITISH “TANK”
On the base is the printed makers mark for:
PEARL ARMS CHINA
A.C.R. & Co Ltd
Also there is a REG No 658588, which dates it to 1916 to 1917.
The British Tank model is in excellent condition, no chips or cracks, just some loss of gilt to the edges of the tracks.
A great piece of Antique Pearl Arms China, which can only increase in value.
The model measures 5.1” (13cm) long by 3” (7.6cm) wide.
It weighs 125g.
