RARE BLACK FACED 14CT GOLD OMEGA MENS ART DECO POCKET WATCH c1943 WW2

Here on offer is a rare and beautiful vintage 14ct gold Art Deco Gents Pocket Watch by the famous premier Swiss watch maker, Omega.

This superb original stem-winder example has an unusual black dial with gold hands and gold Roman Numeral numbers.
It also has a sub seconds dial set at the 6 o’clock position.
It looks to still have its original mineral glass fitted, which is in excellent condition.

The solid 14ct Gold rear cover has a stunning and stylish Art Deco pattern, which truly sets this watch above other plain examples.

The rear cover can be removed carefully with a razor blade and inside is stamped with the official Omega maker’s marks and a case serial number of 9435705.

Looking up the serial numbers on the Omega site this would date the cover to the year 1939.

There is also the official Swiss 14K (585) gold standard mark for Switzerland, the Squirrel as well as a 14K stamp.

You can see from the slim shape and even down to the loop at the top of the watch that this is an Art Deco period piece.

The gold plated 17-jewel watch movement is just superb, as you can see from my pictures; it is in excellent working condition.

The serial number on the movement 9524597 dates it to 1943.

So if I have read the serial numbers correctly, the watch was made in 1943 and had an earlier rear case fitted from a batch made back in 1939.

Given that this watch was made during WW2, this is hardly surprising as supplies of precious metals where in short supply.

The condition is excellent with just the slightest of light scratches and marks to the back cover.

The watch measures 1.8” (4.7cm) diameter and weighs 50g.

Omega is one of the most premier watch maker’s in the World and this watch truly has that understated elegance that just ouzes class.
