Original and Rare WW2 German Army Radio Station Wooden Cased 8 Day Movement Clock by Junghans

Here on offer is a fine example of a fully serviced WW2 period German Army (Wehrmacht) Radio Station Wooden Cased Clock by Jungians.

I believe most these clocks where used in field operations or radio stations (Radiostationsuhren) as the timing of military messages was critical.

The circular clock itself is securely mounted in a natural oak wooden case, and hinges open at the front to allow it to be wound up and the clock hands to be adjusted. There is a small knick to the edge of the wooden rim as shown in my pictures.

On the back of the case there is a metal late with a suspension slot to allow it to be wall hung.

Fixed to the base of the case are two swing-out metal supports to stabilise it.

The 8-day J30E movement clock is by Junghans and has their 8-pointed Star with the “J” for Junghans Schramberg stamped in the clock housing.

The serial number 04498 is also stamped in the housing, which I believe is an early number range, so this is an early example of these fine timepieces.

The black dial face is in excellent original condition and it retains its original glow in the dark hands and numbers, albeit the luminescence has all but gone.

As this is such a fine timepiece, I have just had the clock fully serviced which cost me £90 and it is therefore in full working order, keeping accurate time and currently acting as my desk clock!

The clock face measures 2.7” (6.8cm) diameter and the case is 5” (12.7cm) high, 4.1” (10.5cm) wide and 1.6” (4cm) deep.

It weighs 603g.
