WW1 Period Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders Large Metal Cap Badge

Here on offer is a WW1 period (Princess Louise's) pattern, Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders large metal cap badge.

The white metal badge has a circlet inscribed ARGYLL AND SUTHERLAND. Within the circlet, voided, the cypher "L" of the late Princess Louise, interlaced and reversed.
On the left of the cypher is a boar's head and on the right a cat-a-mountain (wild cat).
Above the cypher and overlaying the top of the circlet is the Princess's coronet (a Royal Ducal coronet), all within a wreath of thistles.

On the reverse it still retains both fixing ligs and the long brass retaining pin.

It measures approximately 3.2” (8cm) high by 2.3” (6cm) wide and weighs 27g.

It is in excellent original condition and makes a great display piece.
