Genuine Black & White Photo of a Member of the WW2 German RAD in uniform with his RAD Hewer

Here on offer is a genuine black & white photograph of a member of the WW2 German RAD in uniform, proudly clutching his RAD Mans Hewer.

The Reich Labour Service (Reichsarbeitsdienst; RAD) was a major organisation established in Nazi German as an agency to help mitigate the effects of unemployment on the German Economy, militarise the workforce and indoctrinate it with Nazi ideology. It was the official state labour service, divided into separate sections for men and women.
From June 1935 onward, men aged between 18 and 25 had to serve six months before their military service. During WW2 compulsory service also included young women and the RAD developed to an auxiliary formation, which provided support for the Wehrmacht armed forces.


The photo is crystal clear and shows the member with what looks like a standard RAD Hewer with normal stag grips.

This will make a great addition to any RAD display, especially a RAD Hewer!

It is of sufficient quality that it could be easily enlarged to make a bigger copy if required.

The photo itself was developed on Agfa paper as detailed on the back and has the crinkle cut edges that where popular around the WW2 period.

It measures 3.3” (8.6cm) by 2.25” (5.6cm).
