Rare WW2 German Navy Officers Kriegsmarine Dagger by P.D. Luneschloss with genuine IVORY Grip

Here on offer is an original WW2 German Kriegsmarine Dagger by P.D. Luneschloss with a very rare genuine IVORY grip.

In all the years of my collecting, this is the only dagger I have found with a genuine carved ivory grip.
A real treasure and will make a great addition to any German edged weapons collection.

The solid grip is just a stunning piece of old ivory that has a beautiful mellow aged patina to its finish. It is in near mint condition with just a tiny age crack to the front base where it sits in the crossguard. The pictures really don’t do the grip justice, but you can see the internal light-graining pattern to the ivory. It is fitted with a springy twisted gilt grip wire.

I have left the eagle pommel slightly loose as to not put any pressure onto the ivory grip itself.

The lovely brass cross guard and eagle pommel, still retain some original gilt finish.

The blade release button still works perfectly.

The excellent and rarer to find, plain blade has the crisp image of the oval maker’s mark for P.D. Luneschloss on the ricasso.
The nickel-plated blade has a slight greying to the finish with some dark pitting in small patches to the front of the blade.
The very tip looks to have been slightly rounded off at some point in its life.
It still retains its red felt scabbard buffer pad.

The lightning pattern scabbard is in excellent condition and still retains most of its original gilt finish. Both scabbard screws are still in place.
It has two very shallow dents to the front lower section, that are hard to see but can be felt with your fingers.

The blade measures 9.25” (23.5cm) and the dagger itself 15” (38cm) long.

It weighs 422g.
