Vintage Boxed Example of a Submarine OCA (Old Comrades Association) Car Badge - Mint Unused Condition c1950

Here on offer is a vintage boxed example of a Submarine OCA (Old Comrades Association) car badge, in mint unused condition, circa 1950.

The round car badge is made from heavy chrome plated metal and has the image of the Submarine OCA cap badge on the front, under a thick Perspex domed cover.

On the back of the badge is a distributers label, for Club Sports of New Cross, Woolwich, with their old 4 digit phone numbers.

The front of the box cover and the base of the badge by the fixing holes, has the makers name: BEAULAH.
The company was established in the late 1930’s by G K Beaulah who recognised the need for finely produced heraldic shields and crests and coats of arms, including car badges. They are still in existence today.

The badge also comes with one fixing nut and bolt, but it looks like there should have been two originally.
On the other side of the box cover is the word: “AUTOMOTIVE”.

I have never seen one of these car badges before and believe they are indeed rare to come on the market, especially in boxed unused condition.

I understand that the Submarine OCA was the forerunner of the Submariners Association, which is an Association of ex and serving Submariners which seeks to maintain the special bonds of friendship, loyalty and comradeship, together with a pride in the Submarine Service, formed during service in Her Majesty's Submarines.

It is recognised by the Ministry of Defence.

The car badge measures 3.7” (9.3cm) diameter and weighs 322g.
