WW2 R.A.F Solid Brass Trench Art Model Lockheed Hudson Light Bomber & Costal Reconnaissance Aircraft c1942

Here on offer is a beautifully detailed solid brass ‘Trench Art’ model of a WW2 RAF Lockheed Hudson Light Bomber and Reconnaissance Aircraft.

This model came with a large wooden Plaque (for sale on my site) that related to RAF No.353 Squadron, which was formed at Dum Dum, Calcutta on 1 June 1942, with three Lockheed Hudsons for general reconnaissance duties.

The heavy (1.28Kg!) brass model has been skilfully made and reflects the details, like wing fins, that where present on the full size aircraft.

It is just a stunning model and is in excellent condition, with some slight surface pitting and scratches, to be expected on a model of this age.
Underneath scratched into the fuselage, are the initials ‘TF’ and the date 1942, which corresponds to when RAF No.353 squadron was formed!

There is no hole drilled underneath so it clearly hasn’t been mounted on a stand, I actually think its too heavy or would need a thick support to maintain its weight.

It has probably been used as a desk ornament or possibly a heavy paperweight?

It would make a great display model along with the wooden Plaque, to represent a squadron that only existed for 4 years during WW2.

The aircraft itself has a wingspan of 10.75” (27.4cm) a length of 7.25” (18.4cm) and weighs a heavy 1.28Kg!!
