Original WW1 ‘FUMSUP’ & TOUCH WOOD Soldier’s Lucking Silver Charm dated to 1914

Here on offer is an original WW1 ‘FUMSUP’ and TOUCH WOOD soldiers lucky silver charm.

These charms were given to WW1 soldiers as a Good Luck token, that could be carried with them into battle.

They come in all sorts of types and this one has a lovely silver body with moving arms (with Thumbs UP) and a woodenhead, so the soldier could ‘Touch Wood’ for luck before a battle.

On the front of the body is stamped the word ‘FUMSUP’ and on the back is an Rd No. 636612, which when the Registration Numbers are checked, dates this charm to 1914, the beginning of WW1.

A wire goes through the head allowing it to swivel and is folded into a loop at the top so it can be attached to a chain.

The hollow silver body is in great original condition, with no dents and the head still has its nose, mouth and eyes, albeit they are rubbed through use and hard to make out.

The charm measures 1.3” (3.5cm) long and 0.4” (1.1cm) wide across the arms.

It weighs 2g.
