MINT Vintage Stag Handled Hunting Boot Knife with Ornate Metal Fittings by Herbertz
Here on offer is a MINT condition ornately decorated, stag handled hunting boot knife by Herbertz, Solingen, that still retains its original makers label/tag.
I think this was made back in the 1970’s and it has been proudly displayed in my collection for years.
All the metal fitting on this knife and scabbard have a dark finish and those on the scabbard seem to be cast in a white metal and those on the knife cast in brass?
The handle is made from a beautiful section of stag horn and it has a stunning Boar figure mounted on an oak leaf edged pommel cap.
The ferrule also has a crisp oak leaf pattern.
The blade has a mint ‘mirror’ finish blade with a partly worked top edge. It has the makers name and details on the blade:
HERBERTZ
ROSTFREI
SOLINGEN
INOX
The brown leather scabbard has oak leaf patterned fittings.
The HERBERTZ triangular makers label/tag is connected by a cord to the ferrule.
This is just in mint unused condition, with the slightest hint of brass showing through on the ferrule raised oak leaves.
Just a really impressive hunting knife that can’t be ungraded.
The blade measures 4” (10.2cm) long and the knife is 9.2” (23.3cm) in total length.
Inserted in the scabbard it measures 9.75” (24.8cm) long
It weighs 155g.
