WW2 MVSN Fascist Senior Italian Officer's Dagger with rare Leather Hanger and Portepee

Here on offer is a excellent example of a rare WW2 MVSN Fascist Senior Italian Officer’s "Volunteer National Security Militia" Dagger with its original scabbard, deluxe leather hanger and dress bouillon portepee.

The grip is made of bright aluminium with an eagle head pommel and half quillion. There are two black painted sections on the front and back, the front is also set in the centre with a gilt metal Italian Fascist’s Axe symbol, held in place by a screw on the reverse. There are some minor dings near the eagle’s head; otherwise it is in truly excellent condition.

The single edged plain blade is in perfect original condition, with a bright mirror finish.

The scabbard has gilt brass chiselled hanger bands and a plain throat and ferrule, all with an aged patina finish. It retains all its black paint, with just some very minor scratches and nicks.
The throat still retains its unturned retaining screws.

The rare hanger is a deluxe leather version with the Roman Legion Eagle SPQR gilt metal belt clip. SPQR translates to "Senatus Populusque Romanus" which in English means "Senate and the People of Rome". It also has the stylised large gilt meatl “M” for Mussolini under the Eagle clip. The black leather straps are in great condition with just some rubbing at the ends where the small hanger clips attach.

The small gilt bullion portepee comes with a beautiful gilt and black patterned thin strap and a gilt sliding ring.


If you are looking for a rare Italian Officers Dagger, this is a beautiful crisp original example, in excellent condition.

The blade measures 7.75” (19.7cm) and the dagger itself 12.2” (30.8cm). Inserted in the scabbard it measures 13.75” (35cm).

The set weighs 355g.
