1st Pattern Luftwaffe Dagger by ALCOSO

Here on offer is an untouched 1st Pattern Luftwaffe Dagger by ALCOSO in excellent condition.

As with all ALCOSO produced edged weapons, the quality of this dagger is exceptional.

It seems to have nickel silver fittings throughout, which all show some loss of plating and dark patination to the remaining plating.

The pommel and crossguard have the early-stylised gilt swastikas, that have loss most of the gilt finish.

The dark blue leather grip is in great condition with a dark patina with just some tiny scuffs. It retains its original triple twist wire wrap, which is still held tightly in place.

The blade is in excellent condition, no pitting, greying or nicks and is complete with its blue leather buffer pad.

It has what I think is a late 1930’s ALCOSO makers maker, with the name and scales, with the letters A W S. There are signs of light runner marks where it has been inserted into the scabbard. The blade is that mirror bright it was really hard to get some clear photos.

The dark blue leather scabbard has just a couple of slithers missing on the bottom edges and just minor light age/usage bruising.

All three-scabbard fittings are undamaged and all 5 retaining screws are in place.

It original chain and spring clasp are still in place and in excellent condition. The clip has GES.GESCH. and the makers stamp OLC in a diamond. The short chain has 8 rings and the long chain 10 rings, with no repairs or damage.

The blade measures 12.2” (30.7cm) and the Dagger itself 17.9” (45.5cm) long.

Inserted in the scabbard it measures 19.25” (49cm) long.

It weighs 580g.
