Antique School of Artillery Rugby Cap with Tassel dated 1921-22 by E.C. Devereux and named to YOUNGER
Here on offer is a scarce antique School of Artillery, rugby/sporting cap with a fine bullion tassel, awarded in 1921-22.
The cap has been made from green and crimson velvet and it still retains its original intact wire bullion tassel.
On the front it has a wire-embroidered crown above two crossed cannons, that I believe is the insignia for the School of Artillery that was formed in 1920 at Larkhill, Sailsbury, England.
On the lip of the cap are the year it was awarded being 1921-22, woven in wire-embroidered bullion.
Inside the cap is it is beautifully lined with a silk fabric and still has the maker’s label:
E.C. DEVEREUX
HIGH ST, ETON
It is also has the owner’s name written on the label:
YOUNGER
The cap is still in excellent sound condition for its age with age related wear and fading to the velvet. As shown in my photos.
The cap has an internal diameter of approximately 6.75” (17.2cm) and it weighs 90g.
