Vintage British Military Type D Survival Knife with Original Leather Sheath dated 1979

Here on offer is a genuine vintage British Military Type D Survival Knife with its original leather sheath, dated 1979.

This heavy-duty survival knife has a wooden handle made up of to large wooden slabs that have been contoured to make the grip and secured in place by three large lacquered copper rivets.

The top pommel end of the handle has a hole for a wrist cord.

The handle is in excellent condition and has a nice dark lacquered finish to the wood.

The 7.25” (18.4cm) large and heavy oval shaped broad parkarised blade has a sharp single cutting edge.

On one side it is stamped with what I believe is a MOD reference number 127/8214.

The blade retains nearly all of its grey parkarised finish; there are just some light scratch marks on one side of the blades cutting edge.

It is complete with its original dark brown leather sheath with integral belt loop and securing strap with press-button catch. The sheath is stitched and fitted with 8 chrome-plated rivets.

On the inside of the belt loop, it is stamped with an H in a diamond, which I believe is the maker’s mark, along with a broad arrow and the date 1979. Below this is the MOD reference number 1278215.

The blade measures 7.25” (18.4cm) long and the knife is 12.3” (31.5cm) in total length.

It weighs a heavy 725g.
