WW2 German Army Officers Dagger with Glass-Like Dark Orange Grip

Here on offer is a genuine WW2 German Army Officers Dagger with a glass-like Dark Orange grip.

The dagger is in overall excellent condition with some minor areas of plating lifting on the scabbard. It does have a stunning mint condition dark orange grip, with the very sort after ‘glass-like’ finish.

The dagger is in untouched condition and all the silver-plating has a beautiful aged dark patina that I personally prefer to leave but could be cleaned off to a bright silver finish.

The 12 oak leaf pattern Pommel is in great condition, showing quality hand finishing to the oak leaves and some wear to the plating on the top.

The Grip is a beautiful dark orange solid trolon/celluloid type, with a ‘Glass-Like’ finish and is in mint condition, no cracks or chips.

The spread winged Army Eagle crossguard retains all its crisp detailing with minimal wear loss of plating to the edges. The reverse is smooth and still has all its plating in place, no pitting.

The ferrule has the finely detailed oak leaf design.

The richly nickel-plated Blade measures 10” (25.4cm) in length and is in great condition with some overall very light greying to the finish that may polish up if so required. Some cross graining can still be seen on the blade. No edge nicks or pitting.

The blade is complete with its tan brown leather buffer pad.

There is no makers mark on this blade which isn’t that uncommon especially on Army daggers.

The silver-plated metal Scabbard is dent free and again in great condition. It still retains some of the dark background finish to the raised stippling. There is some plating lifting to the finish, especially on the lower thin edge, albeit the plating is still present.

The throat is held in place by two round-headed screws, one on each edge.

I believe this is a early period piece, given the quality and sharpness of the fittings and does look stunning with that lovely grip. A great addition to any edged weapon collection.

The Dagger in the scabbard measures a total of 15.6” (39.6cm) long and weighs 355g.
