Vintage Hand Carved Bone “Wolf’s Head” Inuit (Eskimo) Knife with Bone Sheath

Here on offer is a vintage hand carved bone Inuit (Eskimo) knife with bone sheath.

The handle of the knife is made from one piece of smooth bone, the top of which has been painted black and then has been carved into a wolf’s head with its mouth open, showing its fanged teeth.

The single edged curved tipped steel blade is in mint condition and fits snuggly into the bone sheath. It is very sharp!

The smooth bone sheath has a solid top section that has been attached (brass pinned) to the lower curved section that has been made from to slabs of bone. The top has been painted black then skilfully carved with images of a reindeer and a wolf running below a mountain range.

The top of the sheath has a leather strap and a twisted leather cord looped through a hole at the back to hang or carry the knife.

The whole knife is in excellent condition and is a high quality example of these types of Inuit knives.

The blade measures 3.5” (9.7cm) and the knife itself 7.9” (20cm) long.

Inserted in the sheath it measures 10” (25.3cm) long.

It weighs 93g.
