Original Vintage Skull & Crossbones Car Badge by J.R. Gaunt of London c1960’s

Here on offer is a genuine vintage Skull & Crossbones Car Badge by J.R. Gaunt of London, circa 1960’s.

The round car badge is made from heavy chrome plated brass metal and has the image of a skull & crossbones in the centre and an ornate crown and wheel one the top.

The front at the base of the badge by the fixing holes, it has the maker’s name:

J.R. GAUNT
LONDON
MADE IN ENGLAND

Someone in its life has started to drill an additional hole just over the maker’s name, which doesn’t distract from the image or appeal of the badge.

The badge is in great condition, just some minor pitting to the back and very slight wear to the chrome on the nostrils of the skull.

I am not sure if this badge was associated with any particular organisation, but it appears that ‘Mods’ liked them back in the 1960’s and some were fitted to scooters.

The car badge measures 3.2” (7.8cm) diameter and weighs 220g.
