Rare WW2 Dummy Home Guard Lee Enfield SMLE .303 Bolt Action Rifle Complete with Sling c1940

Here on offer is a scarce WW2 ‘Dummy’ Home Guard Lee Enfield SMLE .303, bolt action rifle complete with sling, circa 1940.

It has been hand made made from one piece of carved and shaped wood with some metal fittings.

The wooden frame is a good copy of an original .303 rifle and is complete with a fixed black painted wooden bullet magazine.

The trigger, guard, barrel brackets and the tip of the barrel including the ‘sight fins’ are made from metal.
The bolt action has been made from an old metal door bolt, which really looks and works well, very clever!

There is also an authentic webbing sling fixed in place, which makes it look even more authentic.
These dummy rifles were used for drill purposes, probably before the actual real rifles arrived with the LDV/Home Guard later during WW2.

It is in great condition with light age related surface rust to the metal fittings and a slight split in the wood where the door bolt has been screwed to the frame.

This is a rare piece of Home Guard/Home Front memorabilia and would make a great re-enactment rifle as looks like the real thing from a distance.

It measures 46” (117cm) long and weighs a heavy 1.3Kg.
